DetailWhen out on a fishing trip or just fishing off the jetty the sinker is an important part of catching those fish. Remember to always use the lightest possible sinker as not to detract from the bait. There are many different sizes and styles of sinkers : Estuary & river fishing - use ball sinkers as they roll like a marble allowing some movement of the bait across the bottom to cover ground. Bean sinkers are also a popular option. Surf Fishing - Surf or bean sinkers are popular because they are flatter and will settle in the sand. This stops the waves from moving them away from the fish or dumping them back on the beach. Star and Breakaway sinkers are also popular because their shape allows them to lock into the bottom. Reef Fishing - use snapper or bomb sinkers or larger sinkers as they allow you to reach the bottom in deep water and are less likely to snag.
